Jenny's Place Inc. is looking for energetic and motivated people to join our passionate team dedicated to supporting those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and survivors of domestic and family violence.
Jenny's Place provides crisis and transitional accommodation, early intervention, outreach support and community education. These positions work within the SHS outcomes framework to provide direct services to women and children that are trauma informed, family centred and culturally appropriate
Specialist Homelessness Service Casework roles x2 - Part Time positions available 2 to 4 days per week
SELECTION CRITERIA Caseworker:
ESSENTIAL:
- Tertiary qualifications in welfare or associated field minimum diploma level.
- A sound knowledge and understanding of the complex needs of clients facing homelessness and dynamics of Domestic and Family Violence.
- Excellent communication skills, liaison, negotiation and advocacy skills
- Basic counselling and advocacy skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy and time management.
- Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development and commitment to evidence based practice.
- Knowledge of, and ability to use multidisciplinary teamwork, and to collaborate with other services/organisations relevant to case management and service delivery.
- Competent computer skills and ability to adapt to new IT systems
- WWCC, National Criminal record Check, Full vaccination certificate against COVID 19
- Being female is a genuine Occupational Qualification to offer appropriate service to women and children under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act.
- Going On Call and at times working after hours is a component of this work, applicants need to live within 40 km of Newcastle and hold a current NSW drivers license and comprehensively insured, reliable motor vehicle
DESIRABLE
- knowledge of local housing pathways
- understanding of tenancy law
- experience with CIMS assessments and data entry
