ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated person to work for Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (Narang Bir-rong). Narang Bir-rong provides Family Support Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families in Western Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains, Northern Sydney/Eastern Sydney/Sydney and connected communities as well as Out of Home Care placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who cannot remain at home due to abuse and/or neglect.
The role is full-time (35hrs) and all roles are based at our Penrith and St Peters offices.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
This role is responsible for providing support to the Youth Services – After Care Casework team. This includes preparation and administrative duties for case plan meetings, maintaining files and record keeping.
The Casework Assistant is also responsible for providing support to Young People within the Youth Services program by facilitating transportation, booking appointments and liaising with external service providers.
After Care provides support to young people (aged 17 to 24) transitioning from care into adulthood.
NBAC PAY SCALES (ABOVE AWARD WAGE)
- Level 35-42
- $80,103 - $87,226 (Package includes leave loading and Superannuation)
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Aboriginality is a genuine qualification under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Valid NSW Driver’s license
- Probity checks including NSW Working with Children’s check & National Police Check
- Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination
- High level of oral and written communication skills and demonstrated report writing and use of Microsoft office programs including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- High level of systems management including filing systems - physical and online.
- Experience of knowledge in child and family welfare and in foster care or a related area of alternate care for children is desirable, although not essential.
- Knowledge of issues surrounding abuse and neglect of children and the impact of trauma and children protection
- Varied professional and general life experience.
- Mature outlook and well-developed communication skills.
