Rombola Family Farms encompasses over 4,000 hectares of intensive irrigated horticultural production at Griffith (NSW), Bundaberg (QLD) and Mataranka (NT). Agricultural enterprises include Seedless Watermelon, Rockmelons, Broccoli, Pumpkin, Almonds and Winegrapes. Operations include primary production, processing, value adding and marketing.
We are seeking passionate and driven Forklift Operators to join our team in Mataranka, NT. The successful applicants will support harvest operations by carrying out a series of jobs including bins’ receival, weighting, packing, transporting, and loading of produce into the cool room and trucks as directed.
Key accountabilities include:
- Ensure trailers are loaded in a timely manner (No 1 priority).
- Stack bins in correct groups of 3 or 4 depending on the high of the bins.
- Load cool room as directed by Packhouse Manager.
- Stage loads as directed.
- Ensure seedless cool room drains are clear and flowing.
- Load bins on and off scales.
- Stack up made bins.
- Ensure pallets and cardboard are ready for bin makers.
- Stage loads as directed.
- Daily Forklift checks completed. Inspecting and controlling equipment to identify wear and damage.
- Ensure weights in bins are correct.
- Ensure correct size seedless used when finalizing weight.
- Blow and wipe down bins and seedless.
- Pallet cap finish goods.
- Ensure all bin labels are on the bins and label info is correct.
- Ensure Pack Manager is entered correctly.
- Ensure truck is load as directed.
- Operate Forklifts in a safe manner as directed by Supervisors.
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- A Current Driver's License and your own transportation is a must.
- Forklift license (Applicants with experience but no forklift license are also encouraged to apply).
- You must pass a forklift competency test conducted at the farm, to be able to drive the forklift.
- Chemical Certification will be advantageous.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude.
- Team player who can work effectively with people from different backgrounds.
- Awareness and ability to adhere to rules and procedures, so not to damage farm machinery and be able to maintain a safe working environment.
- Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets, including weekends and public holidays.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Evidence of work rights.

- Good level of physical fitness, including ability to kneel, grasp, bend/twist, lift light to moderate. loads (up to 10-15kg) and be able to work in temperature extremes and dust.

Commencement date: March/April 2024 until October/November 2024. This role will be casual.
Remuneration: Starting at $28.26/hr (Horticulture Award 2020, Level 1). Once you pass the Forklift competency test, you will be issued a new contract at $29.84 per hour (Horticulture Award 2020, Level 3).
Those who do not pass the Forklift competency will not be able to operate a forklift on our farm and will be issued a contract for a different position.
