Blacktown City Council’s Key Venues section oversees all council's aquatic and leisure centres. We deliver first-class activity and program choice, we promote Blacktown City as the leader in sport, recreation and leisure and we give every visitor and customer a safe and memorable experience. Blacktown Aquatic Centre offers aquatic and recreational facilities, as well as innovative programs to meet the needs of a fast-growing and diverse community. The centre boasts an indoor and outdoor 50m heated pool, heated toddler pool, large outdoor grassed areas, skate ramps, café, and health and fitness services including a gymnasium, fitness studio and crèche.
Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope is an award-winning multi-purpose facility that offers high-quality programs and services. It includes an indoor aquatic centre with 25 metre 10-lane lap pool, wave pool, program pool, a 4-court stadium and 16-court tennis complex as well as a health and fitness centre, crèche and function room facilities.
Charlie Lowles Leisure Centre Emerton is more than just a pool, it offers its community with an exciting variety of health, aquatic, leisure and recreation programs and services. The Centre delivers regular Aqua Aerobics programming, with non-water-based group fitness delivered in the two multi-sport stadium courts the facility boasts.
Group Fitness Instructors are required to instruct a range of group activities for a variety of target markets, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all participants. We are looking for Casual Group Fitness Instructors in the above 3 centres who are qualified in:
- Pre and Post Natal exercise
- Les Mills
- RPM/Spin
- Aqua Group Fitness
- Zumba
- Yoga
Position purpose:
The role includes:
- Conducting Group Exercise Classes to attract the maximum participation level
- Facilitating quality customer service through a competent, committed and confident approach.

Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Accredited Fitness Leader (Fitness Australia/ AUSActive, Fitrec, Physical Activity Australia or equivalent)
- Current CPR Certificate
- Experience working both within a team environment and as a ‘self-starter’
- Experience of working with schools, corporate groups, sporting clubs and/or associations
- Current Working With Children Check.
Desirable:
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Accredited Group Fitness Instructor (eg. Step)
- Accredited Les Mills Instructor
- Accredited Aqua Instructor
- Accredited Boxercise Instructor
- Accredited Yoga Instructor
- Accredited Pilates Instructor.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- An hourly class rate applies at $50.00 for this position
- For non-teaching hours, the entry level for this position starts at $29.7395 per hour plus 25% casual loading
- Penalty rates apply for weekend shifts
- Trainee rates apply for applicants under 19 years of age
- Casual working hours
- Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 10.5% employer superannuation contribution payable to Active Superannuation Scheme, Fitness Passport and gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
