Seeking expressions of interest for school teachers with a contemporary understanding of pedagogy, mentoring skills, and knowledge of the AITSL Standards as University Liaisons.
The School of Education at the University of Adelaide plays a pivotal role in helping to contribute effective secondary school teachers for classrooms in South Australia and beyond, and in turn to address the ongoing recruitment challenges in the profession. University Liaisons play an important role in this work, helping to mentor and develop pre-service teachers during the often-challenging weeks of placement.
The role of the University Liaison is to support pre-service teachers, leading up to and during their placements in schools. To do this, University Liaisons work closely with the Director Placements, pre-service teachers and Placement Office staff as well as facilitating links between pre-service teachers, their mentor teachers, school site coordinators and University staff.
Education Placements take place in each school term across the calendar year. Pre-service teachers are assigned to University Liaisons taking into account availability and location. University Liaisons must be available and accessible for pre-service teachers to contact them throughout the weeks of placement and must also be available to visit the school as negotiated with pre-service teachers.
The University Liaison role would suit teachers with current or recent teaching experience who currently hold or have held registration as teachers with the Teachers Registration Board of an Australian State. Applicants must hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) and a current Responding to Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care Certificate.
