Qualifications & experience:
- Telecommunication-related education.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in installing cabling for telephone, radio, TV, computer transmission and other Internet-based devices
- Work experience in Australia is a must.
- An open telecommunication licence is not mandatory but welcome.
- Ability to work in diverse and technically challenging fields.
- Strong communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work effectively under pressure within a team environment.
- Other Licencing: Appropriate compliance tickets including White Card, Working at Heights Security License, Clear Driver License
Tasks & responsibilities
- Install and connect communications and data cabling, equipment and peripherals for computer networks, telephone, cable television and security and fire alarms.
- Installing telecom equipment, devices and appliances such as landline telephones, switchboards, data transmission equipment and other related telecom equipment and gadgets.
- Installing cabling for telephone, internet, pay TV and other computer-based transmissions.
- Setting up new telecommunications frames.
- Connecting PC, monitors, interface devices or peripherals like WI-FI, switches and routers.
- Connecting systems with security or fire systems.
- Providing new installations or replacements, maintenance or repair of already existing systems, and testing equipment using electronic instruments.
- Locating faults in equipment and appliances using electronic instruments. Responsible for testing and troubleshooting of cables.
- Measuring characteristics of wiring cables and printing protocols.
- Programming systems to the requirements of the client.
- Customising and measuring impedance and strength signals.
- Attaching wires and cables to appliances and other equipment such as door controllers, REX buttons, card readers, keypads, magnetic and electric locks.
- Orienting in, using drawings and examining work areas to decide the best installation of cables having regard to Telecommunication regulations.
- Installing cabling for telephone, radio, TV, computer transmission and other Internet-based devices.
