Primary Contact Physiotherapist – Emergency Department
Level 4
This position provides Primary Contact specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapy service for the independent diagnosis, management, and discharge of clients presenting to the Emergency Department at Northern Beaches Hospital. It requires the utilisation of expert Physiotherapy clinical knowledge, skills and critical reasoning based on high level clinical evidence and professional development to facilitate novel solutions to complex clinical problems across the continuum of care. The position involves carrying an advanced practice clinical load and the provision of education & training to medical, nursing & allied health staff. The roster pattern for this position includes weekends and public holiday coverage.
Selection Criteria:
- Degree in Physiotherapy (Masters qualifications in musculoskeletal or sports physiotherapy desirable) and current registration with AHPRA
- Substantial postgraduate experience (minimum grading at a Level 3) in Emergency Department, orthopaedics and/or musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
- Previous experience in a similar position
- Demonstrated high level of knowledge and excellent clinical care and expertise in the physiotherapy assessment, management and discharge planning of patients with orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions
- Knowledge and clinical expertise in casting, splinting and the physiotherapy management of patients with peripheral fractures and injuries
- Demonstrated ability and previous experience in providing leadership to a designated clinical area and to staff and students
- Demonstrated experience in leading and conducting program development, quality improvement activities and professional education within the emergency and physiotherapy departments
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills within the MDT
- Demonstrated commitment to professional developmen
