Help at Home has been supporting vulnerable people in the community for over 30 years. We are passionate about enabling people to remain as independent as possible in their own homes with a focus on personalised support.
Our clients often have complex physical and/or degenerative conditions requiring more intensive and/or hands-on support for personal care, home support and community access.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND TASKS
Role as an ideal Team Member:
- Show a dedicated commitment to the NDIS Code of Conduct
- Engaging person-centred active support in areas such as emotional behaviour, education, cooking and domestic duties
- Planning and executing activities for the participants
- Ensure the effective communication is maintained at all times with all stakeholders, this includes the client and the office
- Adapt service delivery and support as appropriate to meet participant needs and goals while following the support plan in place while following the support plan in place
- Encouraging clients to make choices and decisions about all aspects of their life
- Work collaboratively with others to ensure a consistent approach to service delivery, which empowers participants to be involved in decision making and choice

Tasks & Responsibilities
Work alongside our clients to support and assist them with all aspects of daily living, community access and social inclusion.
- Support Clients to meet their NDIS goals;
- Encourage and assist Clients with daily activities, home care, personal care as required;
- Attend group activities with Clients;
- Assist clients with transport to access the community for appointments, shopping and other activities
- Promote and assist Clients to live an active, healthy and positive lifestyle;
- Follow all organisational policies and procedures;
- Any other reasonable duties as required.
ESSENTIAL Requirements
Workplace Screenings/Clearances
- NDIS Worker Screening
- DHS Working with children check
- National Police Clearance not less than 3 months old
- Visa information and international police clearance (if you are on a visa)
Training and qualifications
- Minimum Cert III in Individual Support, or similar, or demonstrated extensive experience in a disability or aged care setting
- We also consider 2nd year nursing students and allied health students who have completed at least one placement
- Current First Aid certificate
- Manual handling – (with at least 3 mths left on expiry)
- Infection control (HLTINF001 Qualification)or equivalent
- Medication Administration (HLTHPS006 Qualification)(with at least 3 mths left on expiry)
- Through your eyes or equivalent Child safety training (with at least 3 mths left on expiry)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module “Quality, Safety and You”
- NDIS Module – “Supporting effective communication”
- NDIS Module – “Supporting safe and enjoyable meals”
- NDIS Module – New worker NDIS induction module.
Other
- Current drivers’ licence (a SA drivers’ licence is required to transport clients)
- Licensed and Roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- Mechanic report on car – Required if transporting clients
- i-phone compatible with ios version 11 or above OR android phone compatible with version 5 or above
Desirable
- Current Flu vaccination
- Other training – Continence, Seizure Management, Dementia training, Diabetes, Enteral Nutrition.
