About the opportunityAs part of the University’s Financial Services unit, Travel Services is a small and vibrant team, responsible for coordinating the extensive travel requirements for our staff and student groups. The Travel Officer provides advice and manages bookings to support the University’s travel arrangements. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Provide quotes for travel and determine effective and compliant domestic and international itineraries for staff, student, guest and group bookings using our internal travel systems.
- Provide advice on travel related policy and procedures, including insurance cover and emergency arrangements.
- Monitor travel approvals in the travel request system ensuring timelines are sufficient to enable booking processes to be completed once final approval has been given.
- Monitor Emergency alerts during business hours and follow correct procedures to mitigate risk for University travel, assisting with emergency assistance when needed at the direction of the Manager, Travel Services.
- Provide advice on visa requirements for international travel, process visa applications and conduct passport checks for travellers.
You are an experienced travel consultant or officer with a background in travel bookings. With strong organisational skills you will have a proven track record in excellence in client service. More specifically, you will have:
- A relevant qualification at Certificate level, or two years travel industry experience.
- Excellent time management skills and the proven ability to contribute to a successful team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to excellence in customer service, and
- Demonstrated computing skills including experience in travel booking systems with excellent attention to detail.
