About this opportunity
This position will conduct weighbridge operations at Bromelton Landfill while delivering high quality customer service to those visiting the site. The position incumbent will also provide administration support to the Waste Operations team, including the efficient recording and reporting of waste data and maintenance of Council's weighbridge data system.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide day-to-day incoming and outgoing weighbridge operations for customers.
- Manage daily waste transactions including cash handling and eftpos along with end of day business processes and reconciliations.
- Inspect incoming waste to determine when to divert resources to recycling facilities and when to charge fees, and to ensure compliance with environmental licence conditions.
- Review, amend and report transactional data relating to State Government Waste Levy requirements.
- Assist Senior Supervisor with Waste Levy and Environmental audit requirements.
- Promote waste reduction and recycling campaigns run by Council.
- Monitor CCTV cameras for the site and report any safety breaches, scavenging or dumping to the on-site Waste Services Officer or Senior Supervisor.
- Manage commercial waste account holders, including gross and tare weights, monthly account summaries and following up discrepancies.
- Manage the weighbridge data system to ensure its continuity and resolve any technical issues.
- Produce internal and external waste data reports using the weighbridge data system
- Liaise with contractors to coordinate the collection and/or processing of recyclables from all Council waste facilities.
- Ensure accurate and relevant signage is present at the entrance to the site, weighbridge and site office.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with well-developed numeracy, literacy and computer skills an the ability to generate data reports.
- Time management, organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A current Queensland "C" Class driver license.
