Your Opportunity The Townsville Youth Foyer in Pimlico offers integrated learning and accommodation for at-risk young people aged 16-25. With forty furnished one-bedroom units, participants can stay up to 24 months. It's a culturally safe, inclusive space fostering diverse aspirations, providing coaching and support across six key areas: Education, Employment, Health, Social Connections, Civic Participation, and Housing. The Youth Development Coach works with the Program Manager, Senior Practitioner, and Pathways Specialist to develop and implement programs at the Youth Foyer. They provide coaching and support to up to 10 young people, assisting with goal-setting and personal plans, while also supporting daily operations and liaising with stakeholders, suppliers, Mission Australia Housing, and the local community. We currently have a casual Youth Development Coach position available working across a 24x7 rotating roster. Your key responsibilities will be to:Create, coordinate, maintain and facilitate structured career and employment guidance.Create holistic and strength-based individualised support plans utilising SMART goals including referral to other services as needed.Facilitate group workshops and one to one guidance sessions for youth within the Foyer community.Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders employment and training providers, schools, universities, TAFE etc.Provide coaching and positive engagement to assist young people to achieve their goals as detailed in their personalised coaching plan.Support young people to identify short and long-term life and career and study goals.Requirements for SuccessRelevant degree or associate diploma and/or experience working with young people and/or homelessness.A good understanding of the challenges faced by disadvantaged young people in Townsville regarding housing.Experience working with young people on their journey transitioning to independence.Demonstrated ability to coach young people and deliver service outcomes on time and in compliance with funding arrangements.Experience working successfully with young people from low-socio economic, homeless, and culturally diverse groups.Knowledge of services for young people in Townsville and pathways for education and employment.Experience supporting young people in a trauma informed and culturally appropriate way.Willing to work weekends and after hours to deliver programs and services for young people on a rostered basis.Current Queensland Drivers Licence.Valid QLD Blue Card.Please include a cover letter outlining how you meet these requirements and why you would like to become a part of the team at the Townsville Youth Foyer.
