The Client

This iconic Melbourne business is well known and established for over 30 years in their sector. 

They distribute a wide range of wholesale electrical products throughout Australia with Distribution Centres in five state capitals and are part of a successful market-leading group. 

The Role

You will manage all purchasing activity, bringing broad procurement expertise and guidance, including procurement contracts and frameworks to ensure scheduling and quality standards are met within the supply chain. You will also manage and develop and source new products and suppliers.

The Responsibilities

• Company wide stock analysis, forecasting, planning and purchasing.
• Managing Electrical components imports and importing certificates into the system.
• New product introduction to customers through trade nights etc.
• Analysing sales data to forecast demand, monitoring and optimising inventory levels across multiple company sites.
• International sourcing, identifying products/ranges from global manufacturers to improve current lines and create opportunities in sourcing new items to enhance the company’s product portfolio.
• Administrating all product data requirements on the company ERP system (pronto), controlling product setup/revision changes.
• Maintaining cost-effective logistics solutions for the supply of goods.
• Negotiating quotations with Freight Forwarding and Logistics Companies.

The Requirements

• It is essential that you have a strong electrical knowledge either in engineering or a relevant trade.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills, ability to prioritize with great attention to detail.
• Independent worker who is willing to learn with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
• Previous experience in buying and procurement.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Problem-solving and the ability to see the bigger picture.
• Ability to negotiate and influence.
• Flexible approach, willing and able to adjust to changing demands and circumstances.
• IT skills with a high level of competence in using Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Good experience using ERP system in a procurement role, Pronto experience is desirable but not essential.
• Experience in freight forwarding and importing goods would be an advantage.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Travel overseas will be involved.

The Person

Ideal candidates will be coming from a proven Procurement background within the electrical industry. You will naturally demonstrate an ability to build strong working relationships with managers and suppliers. You will also have significant Supplier management and Supply Chain knowledge.
