Margaret River Vintners (MRV) is the largest winemaking facility in the Margaret River region. We crush approximately 7,000 tonnes a year and produce both commercial and premium wines for our varied client base. The winery is positioned in the northern part of the Margaret River region, approximately 15-20 mins drive to the City of Busselton and 30 mins to the townships of Dunsborough & Margaret River.
What are we looking for?
We currently have two Cellar Hand positions available; Entry Level and Industry Experience.
Entry Level - New to the industry and would like the opportunity to get the hands-on training needed to start a career in the wine industry? We have the role for you. On the job training provided with the opportunity to learn and grow with the business.
Industry Experience – Looking to further your wine industry career? We are looking for a person with previous wine industry experience. Someone who can initially integrate into the existing cellar team with the opportunity of working towards a leadership role in the 2025 vintage.
Both positions require you to have a great work ethic, love working with a mix of different cultures and nationalities, be a good communicator, be reliable, not afraid of physical work and happy to work outside most of the time.
Importantly, permanent Australian residency or an equivalent unrestricted working visa is required allowing the opportunity to work through the 2025 vintage and beyond.
The Role
Day to day requirements of the positions:
• Moving wine product using hoses and pumps to tanks/barrels/tankers/bottling facilities
• Weighing and measuring additives to then add to wine products
• Preparing wine products to within parameters required prior to bottling
• Cleaning equipment, pumps, hoses, wine storage tanks/vessels
• Running winery machinery such as Crossflow, Centrifuge, RDV and presses at vintage.
Important information about the position:
• Upskilling and tickets such as forklift/confined space/gas testing can be worked towards as part of this role
• Initially a casual role with the rate of pay as per the Wine Industry Award with the opportunity to gain a permanent full-time position.
• 38hr week (outside of vintage)
• The vintage period (February to May) requires working overtime hours (paid at award penalty rates)
• Ideally looking for someone who is committed to the long-term opportunity.
