Cellar Hand - Wine | Sanector Margaret River

San Miguel Yamamura Australasia (SMYA) is an established leader in packaging and contract wine filling in Australia and New Zealand. SMYA, a collective packaging specialist is composes of its key group members being, COSPAK, Vinocor, JMP Retail and SANECTOR.

We have an opportunity for the right person to join our SANECTOR Margaret River team as our new Cellar Hand.

Based in Jindong, this is a great opportunity to join our busy, hands on team and learn how to work with premium local wines as we receive and prepare them for bottling. This is a permanent, full time role with no “vintage”.  Shifts are week days only, but you do need to live locally and plan to commit to us long term!

Position Description

In this role you will (or learn how to):

• Unload premium wine safely off tankers into our cellar.
• Work with our laboratory team to get sign off for bottling.
• Action bulk wine transfers, cellar additions and other requirements to make sure we keep clients wine safe and ready to bottle.
• Ensure Cellar hygiene & maintenance, making sure we meet all wine quality control requirements.
• Maintain records – ensuring all documentation and data handling meets Quality system requirements.
• If you are interested in laboratory analysis – there may be opportunities to get involved

While previous experience in wine handling is highly regarded, we are happy to provide training for the right person.  We are looking for the perfect fit for our team!

The successful applicant will be an all-rounder, wanting to work with our team to help us get our clients premium wine safely into bottle!

• Someone that is up for quite a physical role – handling wine hoses and climbing to some heights, usually outdoors.
• Someone who shows initiative and an aptitude to learn new skills.
• An eye for detail, good housekeeping and organisational skills.
• An interest in premium wine and our clients in this region.
