Central Sterile Services Department - Nurse Unit ManagerThe is an exciting time to join the Perioperative Services at WMH, in a newly restructured management model for both the operating and sterilizing departments. This key position will support surgery recovery & reform and infection control & prevention initiatives , working collaboratively to deliver a quality service in line with industry standards.Relocating to Level 2 of the Catherine McAuley Building in August 2018, the CSSD is a bright and modern department. WHS initiatives, such as auto loading and unloading of the washer/ disinfectors & sterilisers, height adjustable sinks & work benches, a chemical management dispensing system and pull thru WD, Sterilisers and Endoscopy AERs, are a few features which enhance work flows and efficiencies.In October 2023, the department transitioned to a fully electronic tracking system which includes endoscopy services for the first time. Included in this transition, the department purchased an instrument laser marking system, to ensure the service is able to respond to new services within the hospital and community.The CSSD NUM will provide leadership and management of instrument and endoscopy technicians across all reprocessing services located within level 2 and the ground floor Endoscopy Hub. In addition, the NUM will work collaboratively with the Perioperative Endoscopy service located on level 3.The NUM will play a pivatol role in the delivery of services and work within the standards & guidelines of NSQHS, AS5369:2023 & GENCA.Providing leadership and management, The NUM will be responsible for all resources pertaining to people, equipment and process relating to the reprocessing of reusable medical devices.The CSSD NUM will foster a collaborative approach to sterilizing services and will maintain a safe working environment conducive with the Mercy Mission & Values.
- Based in Level 2, CSSD, The NUM will also oversee reprocessing services in the GF Endoscopy Hub.
- Full Time, Monday to Friday
- This position will provide clinical expertise in reprocessing & sterilization services.
- This position will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary across Health Services and National Standards initiatives, ensuring delivery of quality care & service.
- AHPRA Registration - Division 1 Registered Nurse
- Certificate IV in Sterilization Services &/or Graduate Certificate in Infection Control & Prevention, or working towards
- have previous experience in leadership & staff management
- Highly desirable attributes include, but not limited to;
- Post-graduate qualification (or working towards) in Perioperative, Hospital or Health Services, Administration Management or equivalent
- Previous experience in electronic instrument tracking & management systems
- Previous experience with Orthopaedic trauma & emergency instrument requirements
