About the role
We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Chef/Cook to lead our kitchen operations in our state-of-the-art childcare center to join our team at Ashton's Place Immersive Learners. At our beautiful facility, we are dedicated to providing children with a nourishing and delicious culinary experience, setting them on the path to a healthy and happy future.
The successful applicant will:
- Have experience and a strong passion for planning, preparing, cooking and presenting a wide variety of nutritious foods that are suitable for children aged 4 months to 6 years old.
- Have completed relevant vocational qualifications in Commercial Cookery.
- Hold a valid Working with Children Check
- Have experience working in a childcare kitchen environment.
- Have confidence to manage a kitchen.
- Be experienced in developing a rotating and exciting menu for children, including those with allergy and intolerance requirements.
- Be a reliable, positive and well-organised person.
- Provide a barista service to families. On the job training will be provided for the successful candidate.
- Enjoy working with children, families and colleagues.
In your new job role, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing nutritious and on-time meals, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
- Preparing meals suitable for babies and children, including the preparation of purees and special dietary meals.
- Menu planning in accordance with the centre's nutrition policy and guidelines.
- Working in-line with budgets and building and maintaining relationships with local suppliers.
- Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, in accordance with Food and Council Authority requirements.
- Providing a barista service to families.
