The Role:
City of Ballarat’s Girrabanya Integrated Children’s Centre is seeking an experienced chef/cook who is passionate about preparing fresh, nutritious and attractive meals and snacks for children in our 98-place centre. The applicant must be enthusiastic about healthy eating, have sound knowledge in children's nutrition with menu planning and online ordering ability. The right candidate must be confident in cooking for and providing alternative options for children 6 months – 6 years including children with allergies, intolerances, cultural preferences, babies and fussy eaters.
About you:
Applicant must be able to work independently, have great time management skills, be efficient in record keeping, possess exceptionally high standards in safety and hygiene procedures, have the ability to maintain positive relationships with children, families and team members and provide guidance exercising knowledge of the Food Safety Act and Food Safe Standards for service provision.
Applicant should understand the requirements of a Food Safety Program, hold a Food Safety Certificate, Food Safety Supervisors Certificate, Working with Children Check, National Police Check and current Full First Aid certificate. Food Safety auditing experience would be desirable.
Familiarity with the Healthy Achievement Program and/or the Smiles for Miles Program would be beneficial. Educator's/Teacher's that have dual experience and qualifications are encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will have a demonstrated experience in the preparation and provision of food on a small commercial basis, a Food handlers Certificate level 2 and a Food safety supervisor Certificate (or willing to obtain)
