Newport Gardens Early Years Centre is an architecturally designed Early Years hub conveniently located next to Newport Gardens Primary School. We provide families integrated Early Years’ services including high quality and inclusive childcare (from birth to six years), three and four-year-old kindergarten programs which will support a strong transition to primary school. The team takes pride in their strong community partnerships, and the hub provides a home for co-located services to the community including maternal child health nurse, Toy Library, Yooralla support service, and Playgroups.
This part time ongoing Centre Cook opportunity will be working Monday from 7.30am – 3.30pm and Tuesday to Friday from 8.00am – 4.00pm with the total hours of 37.5 per week.
As a Centre Cook you will:
- Be responsible for planning and preparing nutritious meals for up to 77 children from zero to six years of age
- Ensure all meals cater to each individual child’s dietary requirements i.e. medical conditions, food allergies and are culturally appropriate, so the individual needs of children are respected and met
- Be responsible for ordering supplies and stock management in line with the allocated budget
- Contribute to and comply with the centre’s Food Safety Plan and ensure food safety and hygiene standards are exceeding at all times
- Be flexible and responsive and work with the Centre Manager to provide and respond to the changing needs of children and families
- Be supported by the Centre Manager, staff and Child Safety Compliance Advisors
To be considered you will have:
- Food Handlers and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
- A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is desirable
- Experience cooking (preferably in bulk quantities) in a domestic or commercial environment
- Previous experience as a Cook in a long day care or aged care service is strongly desirable
- Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check
- Current Level 2 First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis & Asthma Certificate
- Early Childhood Qualification is desirable
