Your Impact
The role of the Centre Housekeeping Assistant is to ensure the presentation and cleanliness of the early learning centre is cared for and always maintained, contributing to a welcoming environment which communicates a sense of warmth and care for children, families, and employees. This role ensures teachers and educators engage in the tasks that have them working directly with children, whilst contributing alongside children to the care and attention of the learning environment.
The role is part time working 5 hours per day Monday to Friday 25 hours per week.

Current compliance certificates (e.g. WWCC etc)
Key Activities & Responsibilities:
Actively contribute to presenting and maintaining clean, inviting, and well-presented spaces each day by taking initiative with daily tasks, ensuring a welcoming environment is maintained.
Contribute to development and maintenance of inspiring learning environments for children- “Clean, Tidy, Ready & Beautiful”.
Address presentation requirements of the environment including classrooms, verandas, outdoor play spaces and the foyer space is free of clutter, ready throughout the day and especially in the morning.
Contribute to environmentally sustainable practices established within the centre.
Routines and rituals of children are supported by ensuring sheets, beds, bottles, children’s belongings are clean and ready for use.
The laundry is to be maintained, washing machine cleaned after use and if the dryer is used the lint removed and machine damp dusted. Launder bedding, bibs etc, dry, fold sort and store.
Daily cleaning and tidying staffroom and emptying dishwasher.
Midday cleaning of children’s bathrooms, including replacing handtowels, toilet paper, wipe down surfaces, mopping and cleaning toilets.
Corridors, hallways, windows, doorways, walls all to be clean and fee of marks, including update of signage under the guidance of the Centre Director.
Ensure brooms, brush and pans, mops, and bins are hygienically cleaned at least once a week.
Ensure there are no ‘dead spots’ of out of commission equipment or resources either in the playground or in the centre.
Support the cook in receiving and storing food deliveries and disperse other deliveries to correct area.
Support during lunch, ensuring trolleys if used are clean and ready for use, cutlery and crockery ready, fresh flowers in vases are ready for children to place on the tables . Help to reset the lunch space when finished. Clean chairs, wipe tables, remove soiled cloths and bibs and washers to the laundry and mop floors after lunch.
Meaningful relationships are established and maintained with co-workers, teachers and educators and all members of the centre community.
Engage and communicate positively and respectfully with children in the presence of educators and teachers.
Demonstrate a willingness to reflect and maintain a positive solution focused approach to work.
Work to the Gowrie NSW Code of Conduct, Australian Early Childhood Code of Ethics, and the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child.
