Summary:
The Charge Nurse, also known as a Nurse Manager, is responsible for overseeing a team of registered nurses and other healthcare staff to ensure the safe and effective delivery of patient care. They work in various healthcare facilities, including hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate the performance of a team of nurses and support staff. Provide guidance and support to ensure high-quality care is being delivered.
- Patient Care: Oversee the delivery of patient care by monitoring patients' health, administering medications, providing wound care, and meeting with patients and their families to discuss treatment plans.
- Coordination: Oversee workflows, ensure shifts are staffed appropriately, patients are transferred efficiently, and equipment is available when needed. Maintain communication with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Documentation: Document patients' medical records, including vital signs, medication administration, and procedures performed. Collect data for quality improvement initiatives.
- Compliance: Comply with all state and federal regulations regarding healthcare, including safety protocols, HIPAA laws, and infection prevention and control measures. Ensure team members are following all regulations and implementing best practices.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
- Several years of experience working as an RN in a healthcare setting, preferably in a leadership or management role
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Valid nursing license and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
