With an un-wavering commitment to quality and increasing production capacity from which new products and services are launched, its been determined to now recruitment an additional Cheesemaker as the organisation embarks on the next phase of their growth.
The Position
Reporting to the Head Cheesemaker, the aim of this key role is to produce high quality artisan cheeses, across a broad range of varieties, adept at the art of hand crafting a range of cheeses of more than 30 varieties, including Ricotta, Haloumi, Mozzarella, Bocconcini, Parmesan, Pecorino, Casalingo, Brie, Camembert, Blue and traditional specialty lines such as Cacciotta, Stracchino and Buffalo varieties. This role will encompass all stages of the production process, from milk processing, to cheese production, to packing, maturing and grading cheese stocks.
The Ideal Candidate
This position requires an experienced all-rounder who is able to manage hands-on production of multiple short-run batches in a busy production environment. It will be a challenging but rewarding role, with plenty of scope to ‘learn the craft’ from an artisan Head Cheesemaker, experienced in traditional cheesemaking methods. The Cheesemaker will develop the technical and artistic skills required to produce a diverse artisan range of high quality products they will be proud to call their own.
To be successful in this key role, you will need 2-5 years experience in a leadership position within a specialty cheese making facility and be an experienced Cheesemaker with a passion to produce and develop a unique range of distinctive artisanal cheese varieties. You will need to possess strong skills of leadership, communication, organisation, people management, as well as a willingness to learn a specialised craft from a master artisan. In terms of personal attributes, you must have the ability to interact well with all team members and management with a collaborative and enthusiastic style. Patience, resilience, respect, an open and task-orientated approach to managing multi-talks and competing agendas is essential.
