About the role:
Meeka Metals is looking for 2x suitably qualified Chefs to join our team at the Murchison Gold Project. Initially catering for a 20-person start-up crew, you will have the skills and experience to cater for a workforce that will expand to over 100-persons within 12-months. This full-time role will provide a great opportunity for you to consistently deliver high quality and creative meals, plan and order food for your selected weekly menu and assist with general camp operations. You will also have the opportunity to provide input into the design of the kitchen workspace. The Meeka team values good food and with your skills you will be a key member of the team.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver great meals for your team.
- Manage the kitchen and dining experience.
- Manage kitchen related costs and catering budget.
- Responsible for ordering and stock control.
- Provide administration support for the camp.
- Manage kitchen hygiene standards.
- Ensure that workplace safety standards are maintained.
- Cater for a growing workforce.
Required skills and experience:
- 3+ years’ cumulative chef experience, preferably with experience in a remote village or in commercial catering.
- Demonstrated experience with ordering, storing, preparing, and delivering food service.
- Prior experience budgeting and stock management.
- Experience in menu planning.
- Ability to manage a fast pace work environment.
- Basic proficiency with computers including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good communication skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.
Qualifications
- Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery or Trade Certificate.
- Food Safety Certification.
- National Police Clearance.
- C class manual driver’s license.
- Forklift ticket (desirable).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing.
