About the role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our talented kitchen brigade. The MCEC has won numerous awards for the quality and creativity of our food. This is your chance to join an award-winning team and work in an iconic venue.
MCEC’s success comes down to a food and beverage department made up of some of the brightest and best culinary experts from around the world who support our commitment to sourcing produce from Victorian suppliers and delivering creative catering for our customers.
As one of our Chefs you will
- Working with our Production Team and assisting with event delivery
- Preparing and cooking dishes to the highest of standards
- Be able to work autonomously whilst still contributing to your team.
- Share your knowledge with our kitchen team.
- Build strong relationships with our Food & Beverage and Planning teams.
- Be interested in industry trends and willing to try new concepts.
- Be familiar with and understand HACCP food safety principles.
- Demonstrated/proven work experience in a commercial kitchen, preparing a diverse range of meals.
- Trade qualified or Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or Patisserie
- Ability to comply with food safety standards.
- Great personal grooming, presentation, and a confident and pleasant manner
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Able to work varied shifts am/pm and be reliable.
- A Food Handling Certificate would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and delivered to the appropriate standard.
- Assist management in organising and delivering daily food production schedules.
- Communicate with team members and management to ensure the section work is completed.
- Ensure Food is prepared within our HACCP standards.
- General and specialised cooking duties including supervision or training of other kitchen staff.
- You must have a strong understanding of flavours and textures and the diversity to work with many styles of cuisine.
- Your artistic vision, culinary flair, and passion for food will assist you in developing innovative menus while challenging convention.
You will be career focused and have a strong desire to continually improve your own culinary skills while staying in touch with current food and industry trends.
