About the role:
Karalee Outside School Hours Care has a new position for an experienced kitchen hand/chef to work within their centre for menu planning, meal preparation, cleaning, ordering and maintenance of the Kitchen.
Karalee OSHC are looking for someone ideally with experience in the Early Childhood sector or relevant experience in preparing meals and snacks for large numbers, with up to 150 children in attendance each session. Ideally, you will have experience and a well-developed understanding of children's nutritional and dietary requirements.
- Casual Position
Monday to Friday approx. 30 hours per week
Possible Hours (can be negotiable):
Split Shifts: 6am - 9am & 1pm - 4:30pm Mon - Fri (Term time)
Block Shifts: 6:30am - 12:30pm (School Holidays)
- Commencing as soon as possible
Key Duties:
Preparation of all meals and snacks
Ensure that all kitchen equipment is clean and stored correctly
Wash, clean and store all cooking equipment
Removal of rubbish/food scraps
Planning of weekly menu
Ordering/sourcing groceries & cleaning supplies
Completing daily kitchen checklists
Preparation of materials for children's' cooking activities when required
Keeping up to date with food preparation policies/practices and hygiene requirements
Ideal applicants will have:
Relevant qualification in food handling is desirable
Previous experience as an educator/kitchenhand within a childcare centre desirable but not essential
Knowledge of relevant regulations in relation to food hygiene standards and workplace safety
A proven ability to manage the kitchen environment in a safe and responsible manner
An ability to work independently as well as an effective team member
Well-developed understanding of children's nutritional and dietary requirements
Must be willing to ensure the individual needs of the children are catered for in collaboration with their families
Current Blue Card or willing to obtain. (We can assist in the application for this for the right candidate).
