We are seeking a dedicated hands-on Chef, Fish and Chip Shop Manager.
The ideal candidate should be a skilled cook and fish fryer, having extensive experience in frying seafood, particularly fish, and have a passion for cooking, experience as a cook/chef and experience in a supervisory / management role within a Fish and Chip takeaway environment or similar and who is able to carry out all roles to a high standard.
In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shop, dealing with and serving the customers directly when needed, preparing and frying or cooking food, managing the sales, tills, stock in and out etc. whilst ensuring at all times that the highest standards of food quality, hygiene and customer service are adhered to.
You will also be expected to maintain all health and safety regulations, to develop and implement strategies to increase efficiency and profitability, as well as provide leadership and guidance to staff. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong understanding of the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen.
- Ensure you are up to date on all aspects food safety & hygiene requirements by regular updates (training course provided if needed)
- Ensure regular cleaning of all food prep areas and equipment daily
- Ensure systems in place for temperature checking and food hygiene
- Ensure that you are following company policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve food offerings.
- Maintain accurate records of temperatures and food movement
- Prepare and cook meals according to the Fish & Chips shop menu and recipes
- Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented in a timely manner
- Monitor food quality and maintain high standards of taste, appearance, and portion size
- Collaborate with any kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and efficient workflow
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering and stocking of ingredients
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen area
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations
Effective Stock Control
- Ensure all incoming stock orders are necessary and recorded
- Ensure effective stock control systems are in place ensuring stock is rotated accordingly and there is minimal if any loss
- Ensure effective food management and waste systems are implemented, managed and updated appropriately
