Masala Kitchen Lane Cove is currently seeking talented and dedicated Full Time Chefs/Cooks for the daily operation of our busy kitchen.
Major duties of Chef:
· Direct and coordinate food or beverage preparation
· Analyse recipes to assign prices to menu items, based on food, labour, and overhead costs.
· Prepare and cook foods in quantity of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.
· Based on customers preferences develop menu.
- Enforce OH&S and hygiene regulations.
· Inspect facilities or equipment for regulatory compliance.
· Requisition stock, materials, supplies or equipment.
· Recruit and hire staff, including cooks and another kitchen worker.
· Schedule employee work hours by coordinating activities.
· Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation.
· Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff.
· Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure conformance to established standards.
· Meet with customers to discuss menus for special occasions and events.
Major duties of Cook:
· Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
· Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
· Cook food in various utensils or grillers
· Check food while cooking to stir or turn
· Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
· Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
· Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
· Check quality of ingredients
· Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
Work experience: At least two years’ Experience in a fast-paced kitchen is preferred
Education/Skills: At least Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality (For Chef)
At least Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality (For Cook)
Salary: A$70,000+ 11% Superannuation
Annual Leave: 4 weeks
Working Hours: 38 Hrs per week
