Simply Indian is a Modern Indian restaurant in Melbourne. Taking an inventive approach to traditional Indian cuisine, Simply Indian focuses on local, seasonal ingredients and produce to create dishes with an authentic Indian Touch Taste Treat.

Chef Responsibilities:

  • A challenging but rewarding position overseeing the Kitchen at Simply Indian.
  • Ensure that cooking, meal preparation and presentation (including special dietary requirements) as per customer needs and are performed with quality assurance standards for accreditation and hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • Lead the team in developing and executing a diverse and enticing menu that enhances the customer's dining experience.
  • Infuse creativity and flair into traditional dishes, showcasing your culinary expertise and keeping our menu fresh and exciting
  • Manage and inspire a talented kitchen brigade, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment
  • Monitor day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring high food quality standards, presentation, and consistency.
  • Implement rigorous quality control measures to maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and taste and check the freshness of food.
  • Conduct regular menu tastings and evaluations to identify areas for improvement and refinement., experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
  • Work closely with the management team to control food costs, optimize kitchen efficiency, and contribute to the overall profitability of the establishment while monitoring food stock and placing orders
  • Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff to enhance their skills and create a cohesive and skilled team
  • Stay updated on industry trends and share knowledge with the team.
  • Work with top-quality produce and international ingredients
  • Ability to innovate and come up with creative ideas and multitasking
  • To prepare and cook according to our recipes.

  • The chef's salary for the right candidate from $73,500.

Cook responsibilities:

  • Preparing and assembling ingredients for menu items.
  • Preparing high-quality meals and food items according to company recipes
  • Storing excess food at the correct temperature to avoid spoilage.
  • Ensuring that food portions and food presentation meet company standards.
  • Monitoring supplies and re-ordering stock as needed.
  • Ensuring that cooking utensils are clean before each use.
  • Cleaning and sterilizing food preparation areas.
  • Assisting other cooks to ensure that food orders are completed on time.
  • Efficiently resolving problems with customers’ orders.
  • Ensuring that food health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Any other tasks, within the scope of skills, as directed by the Chef Manager.
  • Cook salary for the right candidate from $70,000

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role for a minimum of 1-year
  • knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and types of equipment of various cuisines
  • Previous knowledge of Indian cuisine is an asset to qualify you for this position.
  • The candidate must have the right to work in Australia
