We are seeking an accomplished Chemical Engineer specialising in Plastic Recycling to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in NPD from recycled plastics to R&D, laboratory testing, quality management systems, and process optimisation. This role requires a proactive approach to evolving customer needs, with a focus on sustainability and environmental impact.
**Key Responsibilities: **
- Engage in Research and Development initiatives to address evolving customer needs and enhance product quality.
- Specialise in Plastic Recycling, laboratory testing, and quality management systems, adhering to ASTM standards for product excellence.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate laboratory testing to ensure the production of top-quality pelletised plastic products.
-Operate and maintain Mechanical and Chemical testing equipment.
Collaborate with international suppliers and specialists and find innovative solutions for the plastic recycling industry.
-Carry out experimental trials, make reports and present them to management and customers.
- Utilise analytical expertise to optimise processes across plastic extrusion, wastewater treatment, and Near-Infrared (NIR) sorting sites, improving operations with data-driven insights.
- Maintain meticulous records, managing a statistical database for product specifications and analysis.
- Advocate for supply chain integrity by conducting raw material audits and issuing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Continuously analyse and optimise the plastic recycling process, including mechanical and chemical cold-washing facilities, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and increased throughput.
**Laboratory Responsibilities: **
- Demonstrate the use of practical equipment, conduct experiments, exercises, workshops, and processes, and answer questions related to those demonstrations.
- Conduct laboratory tests including BOD, COD, pH, Suspended Solids, etc. for compliance, and maintain records.
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the laboratory.
- Perform maintenance of laboratory equipment and maintain chemical inventory and hazardous waste to comply with laboratory safety and protocols.Qualifications:
-Minimum two years experience in the plastic recycling industry, with a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
-Experience in product development or engineering plastics especially PE, PET & PP is desired.
-Experience in film recycling or film testing will be beneficial.
- Proven experience in plastic recycling, laboratory testing, and quality management systems.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing laboratory testing methods.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to optimise processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Excellent record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
- Experience in managing water treatment plants.
- Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
