The Deputy Director Engineering and Major Projects holds a critical leadership role in this diverse local council, reporting to the Executive Director City Futures. This position is responsible for supervising infrastructure, transport, civil development engineering, and significant capital projects, including open space, building, and civil projects across the municipality. This role is pivotal in shaping the Council's growth by leading a strategic team focused on project management and engineering, ensuring compliance with statutory engineering requirements, and maintaining excellence in project management. In this key leadership role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to many groundbreaking projects, including the rejuvenation of the Dandenong Markets, the upgrade of the Dandenong Oasis and the large partnership with the State Government on the “re-vitalisations of Central Dandenong” project.

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, Greater Dandenong City Council is seeking applications from senior leaders who are politically astute and who demonstrate contemporary and strategic leadership, a customer-first attitude, and strong cultural values. You will bring proven experience leading transformation projects, uplifting technical capability and embedding sector leading practices. You have a proven track record leading and empowering multi-disciplinary staff, fostering a positive and motivated workplace culture, and building high-performing teams who take initiative, who are held in high regard across the organisation and who are excited to work under your leadership. You will be a registered professional engineer formal and have a demonstrated ability to lead Project Management and embed best practice procurement processes.
