You will be responsible for providing high level expert technical advice to the HSCE and members of the Executive Team and will be fully responsible for the development of the CHHHS Annual Maintenance Plan, Water Quality Risk Management Plan and other relevant strategic and operational documents.

About us:
Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) provide planning, construction, operation and Maintenance of all Health Service physical facilities, engineering systems, plant and equipment to meet strategic objectives within a quality environment. BEMS currently consist of professional, operational, administrative and trade staff. The trades include electrical, fitting, plumbing, carpentry and painting.
About you:
In your new role you will
Demonstrate understanding of building asset and equipment lifecycle management principles and processes, inclusive of QH owned and leased buildings and assets.
Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate, consult and negotiate with all levels of staff, professional consultants, government departments, contractors and members of the public.
Demonstrate ability to manage project and operational budgets and apply sound human resource, financial management and purchasing principles in support of this.
Proven success at senior level in developing, maintaining and implementing asset management frameworks, compliance frameworks, policies and guidelines and engineering Maintenance Services with an extensive and varied building asset portfolio.
About your opportunity:
In this position you will be responsible for all BEMS professional, trades and administrative staff located at the Cairns Hospital, Cairns North and throughout rural and regional CHHHS facility sites. The Chief Engineer will bring strong leadership, technical acumen and programme management experience to the role and will possess a strong understanding of asset management, asset maintenance, central energy facility management, project management, risk management and business continuity management.
About your role:
The role will be responsible for all BEMS professional, trades and administrative staff located at the Cairns Hospital, Cairns North and throughout rural and regional CHHHS facility sites.
Develop and implement annual service delivery plans including the CHHHS Annual Maintenance Plan, Strategic Maintenance Plan, Backlog Maintenance Remediation Plan, Water Quality Risk Management Plan and specialist engineering input into the CHHHS Total Asset Management Plan.
Develop and implement annual BEMS emergency response procedures and continuity of essential services plans.
Develop and maintain BEMS service delivery policy, procedures, instructions and all relevant contractor orientation documentation and work permits in accordance with legislation and regulatory requirements.
Establish, monitor and evaluate the efficacy of BEMS systems and processes which provide feedback about standards of performance to ensure key areas of risk and opportunities for performance improvement are identified.
