Chief Executive Officer

On behalf of the Board of Management of South Perth Hospital, Lester Blades is delighted to invite applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Since 1956, South Perth Hospital (SPH) has been serving the community of WA. Approximately 6,000 surgical procedures are completed at the hospital per year, undertaken by visiting surgeons and anaesthetists accredited to the hospital. 

SPH has exciting times ahead with the current development of a new Strategic Plan and an approved Master Plan for the next stage of the hospital’s expansion, currently costed at +$35million. SPH enjoys a truly outstanding reputation with the community, funders, regulators, and clinicians.

With the impending retirement of SPH’s long serving and highly successful CEO, the Board of Management (BoM) seeks applications from high calibre professionals capable of leading and developing an already great hospital into one that is even better. Naturally the Board expects to appoint a CEO who brings with them the full suite of executive level competencies normally associated with a role such as this one. Critical to success will be the CEO’s ability to work effectively with a volunteer Board of Management and with a range of key stakeholders. Whilst SPH is a not-for-profit organisation, the BoM has an equally strong focus on long-term commercial sustainability.

As a leader, the CEO needs to be both curious and empathetic, trustworthy, and with great integrity, as well as being an optimist who sees what is possible, who can identify and pursue growth opportunities and who strives to find creative solutions to challenging issues. You should have an unwavering commitment to clinical excellence and clinical governance, safety, and effective risk management. 

Depending on the qualifications and experience of the incoming CEO, the BoM may also consider appointing the person as the Director of Nursing.
