ABOUT ORD VALLEY ABORIGINAL HEALTH SERVICE

The Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service (OVAHS) has been providing critical health and support services to local Aboriginal people since 1984. Our ambition is to deliver socially, culturally, and financially accessible health care that supports communities in the North-East Kimberley to be strong, healthy, and safe.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As our new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will work closely with the OVAHS Chairperson and be responsible for leading and governing the overall operational and financial management of the organisation, in line with the strategic aspirations of the Board of Directors and OVAHS Member base.

The CEO will utilise their strong leadership skills and experience to inspire staff, stakeholders, and the community in the pursuit of OVAHS strategic objectives and will be expected to demonstrate a positive commitment to the highest level of achievement in all areas.

Being the leader of our organisation, you will champion our vision, mission, and values. You will be strongly passionate about providing healthcare and health education to Aboriginal communities. Our Senior Managers will report to you, and you will work with them to make sure they understand and effectively run their sections of our organisation.

ABOUT YOU

As CEO, you will lead with passion and purpose, driving initiatives to elevate the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal communities. You will be responsible for driving operational and clinical excellence and maintaining commercial viability, with demonstrable experience creating and implementing strategic plans, you will understand corporate governance requirements and how to work effectively alongside a Board of Directors.

Your experience in management of ACCHOs and AMSs means you will have an understanding of contemporary issues facing the sector; and will understand the importance of flexibility and adaptability in leadership. You will also have experience and knowledge in creating adaptive plans to work effectively within a changing sector.

As our CEO, you will have experience creating and implementing health initiatives and programs, including securing funding and meeting compliance requirements.

YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Experience working with and for Aboriginal people, and respecting Aboriginal culture, community, and country.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills with a clear focus on an organisational approach to holistic healthcare, social, economic, and environmental wellbeing;
  • A proven ability to foster strong relationships and work collaboratively in diverse communities;
  • Strong leadership and development skills, including driving accountability and performance management;
  • Results-focused approach with the ability to identify and act on opportunities to improve short and long-term performance;
  • Demonstrated strength and ability in financial management skills, including analysis, budgeting, cost control and expenditure monitoring; and

You will be a leader that develops, coaches, and empowers employees, with a focus on accountability, initiative, service improvement and community satisfaction.
