Job description

The Organisation

Fairbridge WA Inc. is a not-for-profit youth-focused organisation based at Fairbridge Village, Pinjarra – a little over an hour by car south of the Perth CBD. At the core of its business are seven functions:

  • Fairbridge College, comprising two Curriculum and Reengagement in Education (CARE) School campuses, one in Pinjarra (approximately 100 students) and the other in Kalgoorlie (approximately 40 students)
  • Registered Training Organisation that provides Vocational Education Training programs and administers delivery to the College and Outdoor Activities, and in future external customers such as schools
  • School Camps, located in Pinjarra, Point Perron, Pemberton, Kalgoorlie, Geraldton and Dampier that provide school camp experiences and activities on behalf of the Department of Education
  • Outdoor Activities, including climbing and high ropes courses, maritime activities and other school-related programs
  • Accommodation and event spaces for public use of the cottages and other facilities at Fairbridge, Pinjarra for family and group holiday stays, corporate events, weddings and other private functions
  • Catering providing support to the Colleges, School Camps state-wide and functions and events held at Fairbridge Village
  • Executive Services, including maintenance of the extensive built and natural environment and assets.

The Position

The CEO works closely with the Board to develop and implement strategies that promote long-term sustainability and delivery of the vision for Fairbridge.  The role is pivotal to the success of the business through the leadership of a diverse multi-disciplinary team of 100 people that care for the historic Fairbridge property and deliver memorable visitor experiences, quality education and youth-focused programs through all its points of representation.

The CEO leads by example, role modelling Fairbridge values, creating the culture and environment for Fairbridge employees to fully realise their potential in delivering the organisation’s goals and objectives.

With annual revenue of over $12 million, Fairbridge is poised to build on its strengths and aim for a sustainable future through innovation and growth.

As CEO you will:

  • work collaboratively with the Board on strategic directions, business strategy and operational plans that align with short and long-term objectives
  • inspire and unite the team to achieve its goals and make Fairbridge a great place to work and grow.
  • be diligent in overseeing the operations to ensure results are achieved, with good governance and proactive risk management practiced throughout the business.
  • ensure assets and resources are used prudently with particular attention to the environment and care of the heritage-listed Fairbridge Village.
  • be active in promoting Fairbridge in the markets and communities in which we operate working closely with key partners, stakeholders, funding bodies and regulators.

About You

You will be an experienced and energetic CEO or senior executive ready to take the next step into a key leadership position that requires:

  • relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in leadership roles that bring a strong business mindset and ability to see the big picture
  • capability to develop and communicate a compelling vision to inspire and guide the organisation
  • proven leadership in building team culture aligned with organisational purpose and values, and accountability through performance management.
  • strong analytical proficiency enabling timely decisions that are outcomes focused and balance the needs of the organisation and its stakeholders
  • excellent financial literacy, business planning and asset management skills
  • experience in reporting to a Board and commitment to good governance, ethics and adherence to legislative and regulatory requirements
  • highly effective stakeholder engagement skills that foster trust relations with key stakeholders, funding bodies and regulators.

An attractive remuneration package including a fully maintained motor vehicle will be offered to the successful candidate.  You will also be eligible to access salary sacrifice arrangements available to employees of not-for-profit organisations.
