Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) seeks to appoint a dynamic and interactive leader who will represent and advocate for the interests of Independent Schools in Victoria. The CEO will guide the day-to-day operations and overall wellbeing of ISV and its service to member schools. Reporting to the Chair and Board, the CEO will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of ISV, ensuring its long-term success and maintaining its reputation in the education sector.
Working with a dedicated team, the CEO will support member schools, seeking to articulate shared sector-wide views on issues affecting all Independent Schools, particularly in matters relating to government policy, legislation and regulation. The CEO will develop and build strong and effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to create meaningful partnerships with all levels of government, other education bodies, relevant public sector organisations and the wider community. Key challenges associated with the position will include the continued cultural change and recovery, post COVID, of schools and students, accountability to members and government, and providing support to the broader ISV team through the change in leadership.
The incoming CEO will present as a strategic, innovative and collaborative leader. Superior relationship and stakeholder management skills will enable engagement in critical change and ensure the delivery of desired outcomes. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of Member Organisations and the ability to nurture and grow the membership base. A commitment to the values of integrity, respect, professionalism and collegiality will underpin the ability to build cooperative relationships with a focus on building and implementing long term strategies for the role of Independent Schools.
The successful candidate will present with executive gravitas, the ability to bring others on the journey and deliver outcomes through inspiration and mutual respect. A background in the education sector will be advantageous to ensure productive relationships with the Principals of member schools.
The Organisation
Independent Schools Victoria Ltd (ISV) was established in 1949 and is a not-for-profit, member organisation committed to the promotion, development and independence of non-government schools and innovative thinking on education and issues affecting those schools.
Membership of ISV is voluntary and open to all registered non-government schools in Victoria. As well as advocacy, ISV’s expert staff offer Member Schools professional development programs, services, information and advice covering the entire range of school operations.
