Your Role:
As the Chief of Airworthiness (COAW) you will be empowered to boldly lead the airworthiness aspects of engineering across our Sustainment and Modernisation Services Operating Unit. As a leader of technical people, the COAW is seen as the primary point of contact and the source of expert knowledge for all aspects relating to airworthiness. You will have the ability to visualise the future programs and how the Office of Airworthiness can support that envisions the future of programs and align engineering horizons strategy.

Collaboration is key – you'll work closely with program technical leadership and management to ensure contract delivery. Your responsibilities extend to managing the Engineering Management System (EMS) and Design Assurance System (DAS). You may also serve as a mentor or coach for engineers.
Building strong relationships with stakeholders is paramount, including the Head of Design, Technical Leads, Engineering Managers, DASA, CASG, platform Chief Engineers, and the aircraft Operator. Together with program delivery, you'll uphold engineering standards through guides and handbooks.
Your expertise in aviation, Part 21J, Part M, and Part 145, and Aviation Safety Management Systems is crucial. You should have experience interfacing with various aviation regulations and systems. Additionally, your role may involve contributing to bids and tenders and providing valuable engineering and aviation advice.
About You:

Previous or current experience in roles like Design Organisation Approval holder, Chief of Office of Airworthiness, or Certification Verification Engineer under relevant aviation authorities is valuable.
Your expertise should encompass aviation systems safety, airworthiness principles, and systems engineering, particularly in Defence or civil aviation contexts.
