About the Role
The Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Education (PVCIE) will work with the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) Indigenous in providing strategic leadership towards quality outcomes in Indigenous learning and teaching as well as broader Indigenous education objectives.
This exciting and innovative position entails offering cross-institutional leadership in integrating high-quality Indigenous learning and teaching strategic initiatives, policies, and programs. As the PVCIE, your primary responsibilities include providing strategic counsel and expert guidance to the DVC Indigenous and stakeholders across the university. Additionally, you will lead the establishment of professional development resources and programs for academic staff focused on Indigenous learning and teaching.
Key requirements for the position include:
- A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Indigenous knowledges, pedagogies, contemporary challenges and opportunities.
- Highly developed understanding of the higher education sector and academic structures.
- Deep knowledge of Indigenous learning and teaching practices and opportunities.
- Demonstrated leadership in developing respectful and reciprocal relationships with inspires positive collaboration and alliances internally and externally, locally, nationally and internationally.
- Ability to develop, implement and monitor the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and professional development.
- Demonstrated experience in Indigenous advancement and engagement leading to positive outcomes.
- Deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that impact Indigenous student outcomes.
- Proven ability to influence positive change and create stronger teaching and learning environments.
