The Department of Regional NSW, soon to be the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development from 1 July 2024, is seeking a seasoned and dynamic executive to lead our Enabling Services function across the state.
About you
This is a unique opportunity to drive impactful change. As Chief Operating Officer, you will oversee the strategic direction and development of comprehensive organisation-wide enabling, advisory, and service delivery functions. Your leadership will support effective planning, operational implementation, evaluation, and assurance across diverse policy, program, and service delivery portfolios.
Your responsibilities will span across critical operational domains including Legal and Governance, People and Culture, Finance, Communications, Information Technology, Grants Lending, and Data Integrity. Your leadership will foster a culture of continuous improvement and drive impactful change.
In this pivotal role, you will be the key advisor to the Secretary and members of the leadership team, focusing on governance, compliance, and organisational efficiency. You'll represent the department in crucial forums, collaborate with stakeholders, and lead initiatives to develop effective policies and regulations.
You will be a strategic thinker with extensive senior executive experience in operational and organisational advice, capable of leading large-scale continuous improvement and transformational change. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build trust and foster collaboration. Financial acumen and a keen eye for efficiency will be crucial in maximising public benefit and resource allocation.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in public administration, commerce, business management, or equivalent demonstrated career experience.
- Extensive experience in a senior government and/or corporate sector role.
- A thorough understanding of governance, compliance, and the relevant frameworks within the NSW jurisdiction.
- A demonstrated track record of leadership in enabling service delivery and organizational performance improvement.
