Freshcare is an industry-led, not-for-profit organisation established over 20 years ago to provide assurance programs which enhance the market access of Australian fresh produce and wine grapes. Additionally, Freshcare supports the sustainability of viticulture and wine making industries through our certification programs.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, we are seeking a suitably experienced and qualified Chief Operations Officer (COO) to join the Freshcare team. The COO is a senior leadership role and is responsible for managing, implementing, communicating, and supporting all operational aspects of Freshcare Limited, ensuring that the company’s operations support the CEO’s vision and strategy.
Essential skills, experience, and competencies:
To be considered for this position you should possess:
- Demonstrated knowledge of systems, procedures and practical requirements and obligations of such a role.
- Report to the CEO about the company’s daily operation, as well as about the CEO’s plans for any upcoming adjustments or developments to business operations strategy, or other company goals and objectives.
- Ensure the plans and strategy developed are successfully implemented throughout Freshcare Limited.
- Maintain awareness of the activities of the business’s various individual departments.
- Project manage programs from scoping, through to budgeting, resource planning, stakeholder engagement, implementation and set up effective monitoring and evaluation systems.
- Ability to monitor and analyze performance metrics and provide reports to the CEO.
- Ensure operational compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
- Manage external stakeholder relationships.
- A proactive and positive approach to resolving queries and problems.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in operational processes.
- Highly developed written communications skills with the ability to maintain strong attention to detail.
- Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with people at all levels in an informative, accurate and positive manner.
- Ability to prioritise, organise and complete work within established deadlines, and maintain a consistent level of professionalism.
- Ability to work effectively within a remote team environment, and to also work unsupervised.
- High level proficiency with office technology and in the use of Microsoft Office products.

It is desirable the successful applicant have an understanding and interest of the Australian agriculture, horticulture, and viticulture Industries. Previous experience in compliance or standards management will be strongly considered.
Qualifications
- Qualifications in Business Administration or related field. MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
