CatholicCare Sydney are seeking a Chief Risk Officer for the first time, to elevate their risk and assurance function.

- Lead a team of 8 direct and indirect reports
- Risk Management Framework; develop, implement, and maintain an effective risk management framework that ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Oversee business continuity efforts to ensure uninterrupted service delivery and business continuity.
- Lead the audit processes to assess compliance with regulatory and legal requirements and develop targeted audit plans for higher-risk areas and key operational systems
- Proactively identify and assess risks across the organization, including internal controls and audits and.
- Implement risk mitigation and control measures to minimize the impact of identified risks including maintaining a comprehensive risk register for all agency risks, providing detailed reporting and trend analysis.
- Oversee investigations of critical incidents, reporting to senior leadership and the Board.
- Review and facilitate reporting on compliance with Commonwealth and State legislation, Acts of Parliament, and statutory regulations.
- Relevant qualifications in risk management, governance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in risk management, compliance, and audit functions.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide guidance to operational and executive managers.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Tertiary qualifications in either risk or audit, clinical or corporate governance (either clinical, business or financial)
- Significant experience in risk governance, risk management, compliance, or related fields, with specific experience in the social services, health, or aged care sector preferred.
- A strong understanding of the business issues as they relate to a health, community services or aged care organisation
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of leading complex organisational audit functions, including leading and motivating teams to achieve
- Proven track record of developing and implementing risk management strategies and initiatives in complex organizations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to use data to assess risks, identify trends, evaluate options, and develop practical solutions.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in quality / continuous improvement frameworks, including the creation and implementation of quality improvement plans
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively engage, consult and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- The ability to develop and implement operational and strategic plans and to successfully manage change processes in the area of responsibility.
