About the role
As the Chief Risk Officer, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Safety, Sustainability & Risk (SSR) Group.
As a member of the SSR Senior Leadership Team, the Chief Risk Officer is responsible for the leadership, innovation, governance, and management necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor the company's operational, strategic, safety, financial and commercial risks that could impact the operations and strategic direction of the company.
This role will work in collaboration with the whole of business to ensure the Enterprise-Wide Risk Strategy is structured to develop and implement an enterprise-wide approach to managing all risk types and to ensure that detailed functional level risk analysis and management is informing the overall enterprise risk profile.

About you
Key Selection Criteria;
- Demonstrated ability to manage the business risk assurance support to internal business divisions.
- Provide the business with high quality, accurate and strategic advice and subject matter expertise in the identification of existing and emerging conditions.
- Broad experience in government risk management frameworks, ie. VGRMF and compliance with relevant Acts, legal and regulatory requirements and ethical standards.
- Ability to facilitate periodic leadership risk review session with group SLT to ensure risk are current and correct.
- Advance the understanding of risk management principles and practices into management streams, operational and support areas of the organisation.
- Responsibility for ensuring the effective planning, designing and implementation a business risk management process for the organisation that assesses risk at all levels, including Commercial, Financial, Reputational, and IR risks.
- Ensuring annual program of work to deliver annual compliance attestation required for risk and compliance.
- Extensive experience in risk and compliance management ideally across all three lines of defence.
- Extensive experience in conducting audits or assurance reviews or managing projects.
- Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.

- Manage the support, education, and training to staff to build the business risk management maturity.
- Ability to work within the already established enterprise risk culture within the organisation
- Demonstrable ability to collaborate and maintain open relationships to expedite responses and information transfer.
