About us

MOVE Bank is a multi-award-winning customer owned Bank including being Australia's Best Small mutual bank two years running. Established in 1968 as the Railways Credit Union, we have a rich history in helping railway workers and their families build stable financial futures. We are seeking an energetic and motivated professional to lead the risk and compliance, property services and Company Secretary functions of MOVE Bank, as Chief Risk Officer (CRO). In this role you will be responsible for driving, implementing, and executing strategy whilst also playing a pivotal role in safeguarding the Bank against potential risks and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive risk management frameworks and strategies in alignment with the Banks risk appetite. This role is a key member of the Executive leadership team and adviser to various management committees.

Qualifications & experience

  • At least 5 years experience in financial services or related fields
  • At least 2 years experience in either a Co Sec role, advising in relation to company secretary matters or experience in other governance matters
  • Relevant experience in compliance and/or risk management (a degree in law, finance or business will be highly regarded)
  • Strong communication skills dealing with various levels, including executive managers and Board members
  • Knowledge and experience in managing stakeholders and their needs, including Board members
  • Leading and developing the management of risk and compliance frameworks and management systems
  • Leading a small diverse team
  • Ability to be an Accountable Person for risk, compliance, audit, and outsourcing matters under APRA requirements.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Stay updated on all relevant legislation, regulations and standards, providing support to the business to ensure understanding and ongoing compliance
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive risk management frameworks and strategies in alignment with the Banks risk appetite
  • Lead a small diverse team using collaboration and solutions driven techniques
  • Provide various reports to the Board and CEO in a clear and concise manner
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Facilitate a strong culture of awareness and compliance across the business
  • Oversight of complaints lodged with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). Ensure investigations are completed according to best practice and in a timely manner
  • Oversee the office co-coordinator and associated activities
  • Undertake Company Secretary duties, including assisting with planning Board and Committee meetings, minute taking, managing company related documentation, maintain and follow up action registers and provide administrative support
  • Liaise with legal advisers to obtain appropriate legal advice
