Job description

Save the Children runs a portfolio of early childhood, family and youth programs across the Latrobe Valley region teams to support vulnerable families and children to reach their full potential. We need you to join our passionate team, to give these children a chance to thrive.

54 reasons is Australia's leading child rights organisation - no ordinary not-for-profit.
Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we're here to make sure that everyone understands their rights. So that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

We champion the children, young people and families we work with. We are inspired by the curiosity and creativity of children and motivated by the love of those who care for them.

With the child's voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve - in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.

Where you come in:
In this casual role, you'll work across a variety of early childhood and family support programs. Based in either Moe, Morwell or Traralgon (and required to travel to these sites), you'll be part of our Australian Services team and report to our Team Leader in Latrobe. There will not be ongoing rostered shift but shifts will be offerred as needed and will vary week to week.

You will make an impact by:

  • Assisting to develop and deliver programs.
  • Working on a Casual basis within a team to ensure programs are age and developmentally appropriate.
  • Creating a welcoming and safe environment to encourage active participation from children, young people, and families.
  • Collecting and recording data and information for the purpose of accountability, evaluation, and reporting

Does this sound like you?
You're passionate about working with children and parents and making a difference in their lives. Your sensitivity and community knowledge will see you build strong connections with families from varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. You're motivated, eager to learn and not afraid to jump in feet first to help make our programs successful.

Working at 54 reasons is more than just a job.
54 Reasons is proudly part of Save the Children Australia. We are a learning organisation that invests in the development and wellbeing of our people. Our workforce is approximately 1100 people strong, and proudly diverse, whether in race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexuality, cultures and beliefs.

We are creative, connected and accountable, bringing energy, guts and ideas to all we do to champion children in Australia and partner with families, communities and partners to bring about change.

Our people work from both home and office, with important moments held in-person to foster belonging and support professional development. Our leave provisions include personal, ceremonial and family violence leave as well as the ability to purchase additional leave.

Other benefits include:

  • Generous casual award rate (Level 3.1 - $45 per hour) and great work life balance
  • Friendly and flexible work environment
  • Internal deployment and secondment opportunities
  • Opportunities to progress within one of Australia's largest non-profits.
