About the role:
To be an effective Child Protection Practitioner, you will have a strong sense of social justice and understand that families are complex, with their own unique histories. Importantly, you will be able to build relationships with children, young people and their families. The work is interesting, challenging, busy and fulfilling and involves therapeutic and analytical skills.
Right now we are looking for Child Protection Practitioners for our Metro and Regional offices to help make real change to the lives of our communities most vulnerable children and families.
We are looking for entry level (CPP3) and experienced Child Protection/child and family professionals (CPP4 & CPP5) to join our Child Protection teams.
CPP3 - As an entry level Child Protection Practitioner, you’ll work with children who are at risk of abuse or neglect. In this role, your social work or welfare qualifications will be welcomed into a supportive and hard-working team who share a common goal
CPP4 – Advanced Child Protection Practitioners work with more complex cases and situations. You need a minimum of two years case work experience in child and family social work.
CPP5 – Senior and Team Manager – As a Senior Child Protection Practitioner, you’ll be responsible for supporting and developing Child Protection Practitioners in the integration of theory and practice while demonstrating your expertise through case practice.

Salary:
- Child Protection Practitioner (CPP3) $74,580 to $90,558
- Advanced Child Protection Practitioner (CPP4) $92,332 to $104,762
- Team Manager and Senior Child Protection Practitioner (CPP5) $106,534 to $128,897
Key responsibilities:
- Assessing children and young people who are in need of protection
- Conducting risk assessments and investigations
- Working collaboratively with families, community services organisations and other professionals to develop and implement effective plans for children
- Managing complex cases, problem solving and presenting matters to the Children's Court of Victoria as required
- Be responsible for supporting and developing Child Protection Practitioners in the integration of theory and practice while demonstrating your expertise through case practice
- Working collaboratively with the Team Manager to strengthen case practice
- Provide effective service delivery and support other practitioners
To be a Child Protection Practitioner you need a current and valid driver's licence and a recognised Social Work degree or a similar community or behavioural related degree.
