About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Child Psychologist to provide high quality, evidence-based and focused psychological interventions to children, adolescents and families presenting with mental health concerns. 

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Provide therapeutic intervention sessions (individual) using best practice, recovery-oriented, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, e.g. CBT, DBT, ACT, and a high level of expertise and understanding related to mental health and trauma
  • Plan and implement effective clinical assessment, risk formulation and a variety of therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of children, young people and adults, and their families/carers where appropriate.  
  • Liaise and consult with other professional employees. 
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders in the community, e.g. treating GP’s and other allied health professionals. 
  • Participate in continuing professional development to maintain, develop and enhance knowledge of best practice.

About You

You will be someone with a warm and engaging manner who is innovative in their clinical approach. You will share the values of our practice and be interested in contributing to its ongoing growth and improvement. You will be able to provide support to children, adolescents and families for a range of presenting issues and be interested in providing Medicare and NDIS services.

Skills and Experience

You will have:

  • Qualified as a Psychologist and eligible for a minimum of General Registration with AHPRA (provisional registration not suitable)
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and tailored psychological treatment interventions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to form engaging relationships with clients and their families/carers, as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to administer and interpret appropriate psychometric tests and outcome measurements.
  • Ability and experience to conduct risk assessments, including suicide and risks associated with challenging behaviours, and the ability to develop action plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Experience in delivering cognitive behaviour therapy and other evidence-based interventions.
  • Experience in assessing and treating clients with a range of mental health and/or substance use problems.
  • Knowledge of National Standards for Mental Health services 2010. 
  • A current DHS Working With Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain these at your own cost prior to commencement of employment
