Job description

Period of Appointment

Fixed-Term, Full-time for a period of 2 years.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • To deliver state-wide training, education and awareness raising sessions using a variety of face-to-face and online capabilities on behalf of the Office of the Independent Regulator (the Office).
  • Prepare, deliver and seek evaluative feedback on presentations, workshops and training to government and non-government stakeholders relating to the functions of the Office, including organisational compliance across the Child and Youth Safe organisations Framework and the Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme.  
  • Provide strategic input into the development of a communication strategy for the Office and support the Director, Education, Engagement and Policy in the preparation of advice and strategy to address emerging stakeholder issues across the community.   
  • Provide advice on effective engagement techniques and practices designed to target stakeholders and members of the public.
  • Support the implementation of qualitative and quantitative measures to evaluate the effectiveness of activities that engage with stakeholders and the wider community.
  • Support the coordination and development of material for the office’s web site and contribute to maintaining the currency and quality of material on the site
  • Participate in the development of an assessment and monitoring program to provide education and feedback on how organisations can meet the requirements of the schemes administered by the Office.
  • Perform other duties as envisaged by the assigned classification under the relevant award and in accordance with the skills, competence and training of the occupant as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Employment to the Office is subject to the satisfactory completion of security and related vetting including satisfactory a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable Persons Check (WWVP).

Pre-employment Checks

The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.

2. Disciplinary action in previous employment.

Desirable Requirements

  • There is a significant amount of travel associated with this role and thus a Tasmanian Driver’s licence is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and/or previous work experience in adult education, communications and training roles in government or not for profit sector would be advantageous.
