About the position
The purpose of the role is to administer the Parish Audit Program to ensure Diocesan compliance with the Child and Youth Risk Management Strategy (CYRMS) in the parishes that engage in Child and Youth Ministry Activities. The delivery of the Program aims to reduce the risk of harm to children and young people and encourages best practice in Safe Ministry across the Anglican Church of Australia, Diocese of Brisbane, according to the 10 National Child Safe Principles and reportable conduct scheme.
The Child Safe Quality Assurance Advisor reports to and works with the Associate Director, Office of Professional Standards, to identify any new risks, to utilise opportunities for policy or procedural improvement, and review the parish audit tool.
What will you be doing to administer the Parish Audit Program?
- Engage with parish clergy and child and youth ministry teams: Develop relationships with the key stakeholders to provide guidance and recommendations in safe ministry practices to children.
- Assess compliance and formulating recommendations: Using your highly developed analytical skills, assess parish compliance with the child and youth risk management strategies, and offer recommendations for quality improvement in practice.
- Write audit reports and recommendations: Use your refined writing skills to produce high quality audit reports and recommendations.
What are we looking for?
- Tertiary Qualifications: Tertiary Qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Human Services highly desirable.
- Technical Knowledge: A demonstrated understanding of child protection, safe ministry, or safeguarding concepts, including relevant legislation, best practices in relation to the protection of children in an organisational setting.
- Analytical skills: The capacity to apply risk assessment processes, analyse gaps, and offer recommendations and solutions for quality improvement.
- Well-developed written skills: The ability to write a coherent report with well-developed written analysis to a high standard.
- Develop and maintain working relationships: the capability to build rapport and nurture both internal and external relationships, value differences and diversity, share learning, and support others.
- Integrity and Emotional Intelligence: Demonstrated professionalism, commitment to action, the capacity to reflect upon self, and a commitment to growth.
- Flexibility to travel: This role requires you to use your vehicle to visit parishes in Southern Queensland. Occasionally this may mean overnight travel. You will have access to paid accommodation, mileage, and travel allowance.
