The role:
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer for an immediate start with one of our clients. The successful candidate will be working from their Adelaide Airport Office for approximately 4 months with a potential to permanency. Focusing on both tactical and strategic sourcing elements, the Purchasing Officer will be responsible for executing MRP recommendations and manual requisitions to ensure production and aftermarket spares have the correct volume of materials available at the right time.
Primary Responsibilties:
- Oversee supplier relationships, addressing administrative, supply, and operational issues.
- Manage product line replenishments on a daily, weekly, and fortnightly basis, and act on MRP recommendations.
- Maintain stock service levels and KPIs in line with agreed targets.
- Participate in PFEP reviews, evaluating materials for lean supply opportunities to minimize DOS and E&O risks.
- Assess and process economical order requirements for overseas suppliers if they have not been pre-ordered.
- Identify and implement opportunities for sourcing or PPI savings within the supply chain.
- Run weekly backorder reports without purchase orders, download them in Excel, review, and follow up.
- Maintain and update weekly reports for standing orders, Category A stock, ETAs, and acknowledgements.
- Review high-value indents daily and report on shipment progress.
- Manage work cell metric boards, ensuring accountability for SQDC.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in Replenishment Purchasing
- Exposure to Hazardous/Dangerous goods Purchasing
- Comprehensive knowledge of how to import product from overseas suppliers
- Tertiary qualification in supply chain /logistics
- Ability to understand forecasting, reorder points
