An exciting 12-month opportunity has arisen within our Child and Family Wellbeing team for a passionate and community-focused individual to be at the forefront of creating transformative programs that nurture, educate, and empower young minds within the City of Playford community.
What you’ll be doing
As a Children’s Program Officer, you will plan, develop and deliver education programming for Children’s activities to achieve positive literacy and learning outcomes across the Council’s library services and the community.
This will include:
- Facilitating story time and Book Bugs, and other Children’s literacy programs as developed
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the annual school holiday program schedule.
- Delivering celebration of special events that foster reading and education.
- Supporting the library services team in delivering and maintaining an outstanding customer experience.
What you’ll bring to the team and the community
It’s important to us that you are the right fit to join our team, but just as important, that Playford is the right place for you. Ideally, the successful candidate will be tertiary qualified in Education (Early Childhood/Primary) or a relevant field and/or demonstrated equivalent experience, with a thorough understanding of literacy principles as they relate to children, school age or youth.
In addition, you’ll bring:
- Proven knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework.
- Understanding and knowledge of early literacy, child development and learning
- Demonstrated ability and passion to work with a variety of target groups.
- Demonstrated experience working with children and youth.
- Ability and desire to work in conjunction with volunteers; and
- Passion for working with and for the community.
