Remuneration:
Remuneration value up to $417,992 p.a. comprising salary between AU$117.00 p.h. - $124.05 p.h. (L25-L27) or remuneration value up to $382,509 p.a. comprising salary between $97.84 p.h. - $113.65 p.h. (L18-L24); employer superannuation contribution (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%), attraction and retention incentive allowance, professional development allowance, professional development leave 3.6 weeks p.a., professional indemnity cover, plus overtime and on-call allowances.
The Role:
has six hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and four community health centres that employ more than 3,300 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
Mackay is a vibrant regional centre in tropical North Queensland, servicing a population of over 180,000. The Mackay Isaac Whitsunday Region has a thriving economy that includes a diverse range of tourism, agriculture, industry, mining, education and health industries.

Your opportunity
A Staff Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director in:
- Provision of high-quality clinical services as part of the Unit/Department.
- Education of medical staff and students, Allied Health, interested community groups and nursing staff.
- Active participation in patient safety, audit, research and service planning activities.
MHHS' vision is to expand the Chronic Pain service with more local specialists and continuing ongoing collaboration with NQPPMS. Further to government initiative permanent funding, MHHS will commence with a new Neurosurgery Pain Management service.
Mandatory qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements
- Mandatory possession of a qualification from a registered tertiary institution and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.
- Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) and Faculty of Pain Medicine (FFPMANZCA). Candidates with Substantial comparability also will be considered for this position.
- Evidence of participation in a continuing professional education programme.
- Current Specialist registration/eligible for specialist registration (Anaesthesia) with the Medical Board of Australia.
