About the role

As the Fleet Services Coordinator, you will provide strong leadership and guidance to a talented team and instil a culture that prioritises care, safety and professionalism.

The Fleet Services Coordinator will lead our Fleet Services department, ensure the maintenance and performance of over 400 vehicles.

As an experienced leader, your role will be pivotal in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our vehicles and machinery, contributing to the seamless delivery of crucial services to our community.

A snapshot of your new role:

  • Lead a team of passionate and experienced individuals and actively demonstrate our values of respect, working together and inclusiveness
  • Coordinate maintenance, logistics and repair schedules of the City’s fleet, plant and equipment, ensuring cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and minimal downtime
  • Manage the City’s mechanical workshop, ensuring safe and seamless operations, accurate recording, optimum inventory levels, and fleet utilisation
  • Provide sound leadership and guidance to a dedicated team, fostering a culture that ensures safety, performance and care of self, vehicles, plant and equipment
  • Prepare and manage budgets, track expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising on quality, efficiency or safety
  • Oversee the City’s fleet renewal program, ensuring cost-effective acquisition and disposal of assets, including electrical vehicles and charging infrastructure
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritise maintenance and fleet utilisation, according to operational needs and budgeting
  • Ensure the City’s fleet operations comply with regulatory standards and legislation
  • Contribute to the City’s Roadmap to Netzero, by ensuring we decarbonise our Fleet through EVs and the implementation of a charging network
  • Work as key member of the Sustainability, Waste and Fleet leadership team within the Infrastructure and Environment directorate at the City

About you:

  • Minimum five years’ experience managing a workshop servicing a large fleet of light and heavy vehicles, plant, equipment and related assets
  • Mechanical trade qualification or significant practical knowledge of light and heavy road transport vehicles, machinery and mechanics
  • Demonstrated experience in logistics and scheduling maintenance of vehicles, plant, and equipment
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to motivate and inspire a team for high performance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – able to confidently engage and negotiate positive outcomes with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks and work under pressure
  • Proficiency in maintenance or asset management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Current ‘C’ Class license (HR desirable) and national police clearance (within six months validity)
